Making highways safer during Eid

EID is only a few days away and the crowd of homebound people is already growing in number. A mad rush is already there for tickets. Sharing of Eid festivity with close relatives is a historical tradition in this part of the world. On the eve of Eid, city people who remain otherwise busy rush towards their roots. But the sufferings on the road apart from traffic congestion, sometimes lead to untoward incidents ending in pains and agonies.
The public transports as well as communication system of the country is still is still in a disorganized state. Traditionally, people love to celebrate two Eid festivals with their near and dear ones and the urge gives rise to what is described as 'Eid rush' of passengers using all modes of transport--- rail, road, water and air. The rush tends to be too heavy for all routes linking the capital city with the rest of the country. People have already started their preparation for Eid-ul-Fitr. One vital part of the preparation is securing bus, train, and launch tickets in advance to make a home-bound journey. But getting transport tickets at this period of time remains to be one of the toughest jobs on earth.
Another nuisance is snatching belongings of passengers on the highway during Eid festival. A section of terrorists become busy with snatching luggage and baggage of passengers. The authorities should beef up security to shield against such organized crime.
The media can play an important role and report anomalies so that it becomes easier for the law enforcers spot those and take action against it.  The government should conduct road safety awareness campaign so that we see a positive change on our roads.
